PRESS
RELEASE April 2004 VolunteerLEON, a local non-profit service agency supplying a host of professional support services launched its new identity program with the use of its updated logo designed by Faith Martin of Longview Studios. The logo appeared in the Tallahassee Democrat, April 21st in conjunction with VolunteerLEON's "Make a Difference with Americorps VISTA" appeal for program volunteers. The updated mark was an outgrowth of the original Agency Resource Directory re-design project. While working with the organ- ization it was discovered that the current logo had been created for web use only. It's limited format caused difficulties when the organization tried to repurpose it for print. The four color printing required by the web logo made it expensive to reproduce as each printer or vendor was forced to spend additional time, to make it suitable to meet their equipment specifications. The updated logo was based on the original typeface to provide a smooth transition over time as the organization updated their materials. The clean lines and correct digital format makes it useable for a business card or a billboard without loss of clarity. |

| Although
the organization requested three colors (blue, red and yellow), the mark
is just as effective in black and white or one color (see directory cover)
necessary for newsprint or phone directory usage. The solid look sends an appropriate visual message that says "We're the experts. We can help you run a more effective non-profit organization." Accompanying materials consisting of a sixty-five (65) page directory and new letterhead are currently in the process of being implemented. | Designing
the interior pages to be printed on one side makes it easy for receiving
organizations to update pages and forms. Non-profit organizations in the
greater Tallahassee/Leon County area will receive it throughout the coming
year. Even though the original brief and timeline did not include redesigning the logo and letterhead, we still finished it in six weeks. You can see the before and after and read the case study here. | ||||||||||||
